Every great show has a team the audience never sees. The engineer at the mixing desk. The lighting designer shaping every moment. The techs who keep the instruments working, the stagehands who build the stage, and the managers who make sure everyone is where they need to be.

There's an old saying in this business: no show without the crew. It's true. And the holidays are a perfect time to let them know they're appreciated.

## For the sound engineer

Front of house and monitor engineers live by their ears and work some of the longest hours in the building.

- High-quality musician's earplugs to protect their most important tool
- A comfortable, well-built pair of headphones
- A small LED desk light for dark mixing positions
- A durable notebook for show notes and settings
- A good insulated travel mug for those early load-ins

## For the lighting designer and lighting techs

- A bright, rechargeable headlamp or flashlight
- A compact multitool
- Quality work gloves for handling hot fixtures and cable
- A rugged phone case and a portable charger

## For backline and instrument techs

These are the people who keep every string tuned, every drum in place and every amp working.

- A well-organized tool roll or tech pouch
- A precision screwdriver set
- A small soldering kit for quick repairs
- Gaffer tape, labelling tape and markers. You can never have too much.

## For stagehands and riggers

- Comfortable, sturdy work boots or a gift card toward them
- Quality work socks, which matter more than most people think
- Durable work gloves
- A sturdy water bottle
- Warm layers for cold load-ins and outdoor shows

## For road, tour and production managers

The people holding everything together deserve something that makes their jobs a little easier and their downtime a little better.

- A quality leather or canvas organizer for passes, documents and receipts
- A premium portable battery pack
- Noise-cancelling earbuds for travel days
- A gift card for a good meal on a day off

## Gifts that say thank you

Sometimes the best crew gift isn't practical at all. It's personal.

- **Something that celebrates their role.** Crew members are proud of the work they do. Clothing and keepsakes that honour their place in the show are often favourites.
- **A handwritten note.** Tell them specifically what they did that made a difference.
- **A crew meal.** Buying dinner for the whole crew is a tradition for a reason.
- **Public recognition.** Thank them from the stage, in your posts or in your liner notes. Being seen matters.

## The bottom line

The crew makes the artist look and sound good every single night, usually without a word of thanks. A thoughtful gift, or even a sincere thank-you, goes a long way with people who spend their careers behind the scenes.

No show without the crew. Make sure they know it.
